1. What is the CRTC?

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is an independent public authority that regulates and supervises broadcasting and telecommunications in Canada. The CRTC operates under and implements the Broadcasting Act and the Telecommunications Act.

📌 CanaSIM is not a regulatory body, not a carrier, and not affiliated with the CRTC. We are a private independent consultancy that helps consumers navigate the Canadian mobile market.

2. Our Relationship to CRTC Regulations

CanaSIM operates in accordance with applicable Canadian laws and regulations, including those governed by the CRTC. Our consultancy services involve comparing and advising on plans offered by carriers who are themselves regulated by the CRTC. We do not provide telecommunications services directly.

3. Wireless Code of Conduct

The CRTC's Wireless Code sets out rules that all Canadian wireless carriers must follow when offering services to consumers. Key consumer protections under the Wireless Code include:

As your independent consultant, we help you understand these rights when reviewing and switching plans.

4. Number Portability

Under CRTC rules, you have the right to keep your phone number when switching carriers — this is called number portability. CanaSIM guides clients through this process to ensure a seamless transition with no loss of their existing number.

5. Filing a Complaint

If you have a complaint about a carrier that cannot be resolved directly, you may contact the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) — an independent body approved by the CRTC to handle consumer complaints:
