1. What is the CRTC?
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is an independent public authority that regulates and supervises broadcasting and telecommunications in Canada. The CRTC operates under and implements the Broadcasting Act and the Telecommunications Act.

2. Our Relationship to CRTC Regulations
CanaSIM operates in accordance with applicable Canadian laws and regulations, including those governed by the CRTC. Our consultancy services involve comparing and advising on plans offered by carriers who are themselves regulated by the CRTC. We do not provide telecommunications services directly.
3. Wireless Code of Conduct
The CRTC's Wireless Code sets out rules that all Canadian wireless carriers must follow when offering services to consumers. Key consumer protections under the Wireless Code include:
- Written contracts in plain language that are easy to understand
- A mandatory 15-day trial period for new contracts
- Caps on data overage charges
- The right to unlock your device after 90 days
- Clear disclosure of all fees before signing
- The right to cancel a contract with a maximum early termination fee equal to the remaining device subsidy

4. Number Portability
Under CRTC rules, you have the right to keep your phone number when switching carriers — this is called number portability. CanaSIM guides clients through this process to ensure a seamless transition with no loss of their existing number.
